Gracie Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) Programs

Gracie Jiu Jitsu was developed by Grand Master Helio Gracie to allow a smaller, weaker person to defeat a larger, stronger one through the use of leverage and technique. Brazilian or Gracie Jiu Jitsu is primarily a grappling, or ground-based style of martial arts due to the fact that most live physical altercations end up on the ground. Until recently, grappling was a largely neglected area of personal combat in the martial arts community. The development of no holds barred style, Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) competitions in the United States in recent years has shown that it is very difficult to avoid going to the ground in a fight either by accident or by design, thus emphasizing the importance of such a strong grappling-based submission martial art like Gracie/Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

Here at Vacanti Jiu Jitsu in Hainesport, N.J. we offer two Jiu Jitsu programs that teach you the amazing art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in a a safe, instructional environment. We offer a Gracie Basics Jiu Jitsu program for beginners and a Next Level Jiu Jitsu program for those who have completed the beginner level program. We also train with and without the Gi or Kimono (traditional style uniform).

 Gracie Basics Jiu Jitsu Program:

Our Gracie Basics Jiu Jitsu program is a one hour class for men and women starting at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday and at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. This class runs on a 6 to 8 week cycle and teaches or reviews the basics or building blocks of Gracie Jiu Jitsu. Students are taught basic stand-up self defense as well as all of the common ground positions for this martial art. Live training with a partner is only done in controlled positions under the close supervision of an instructor. We ensure that students are comfortable with the basics before moving on to actual live training.

Next Level Jiu Jitsu:

Our Next Level Jiu Jitsu class is a one hour class for men and women starting at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. A Gi is worn on Monday. The Wednesday and Friday classes are both NoGi classes meaning the students wear grappling shorts and top.
